Viva Amelia

Viva A. Smith (85) from Mt. Oliver passed away June 9, 2025, from Ovarian Cancer. She worked at St. Joseph's Hospital in South Side in 1977. She went on to work at Jefferson Hospital until she retired. Viva loved to sew and frequently made her own patterns, crocheted and tended to her garden. She loved watching the birds from her seat at the kitchen table and on nice cool days on the porch. Viva loved all her grandchildren and great grandchildren that she was able to watch grow up.

Viva is survived by her children Richard Jr. (Iris), Donny (Karen), Liz, 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her late husband Richard and son Michael (Smitty).

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
