STOCKDILL
Thomas J.
On Thanksgiving Day, November 26, 2020, Thomas Stockdill passed into eternal peace with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Thomas was born on September 28, 1923 in Elizabeth, Pennsylvania, to Thomas and Phoebe (Barlow) Stockdill.
When called by his country, he served in World War II as a member of the 733rd Engineers Division.
On August 25, 1947, he married Elva L. Stabler, and remained her faithful husband for 73 years.
He graduated from Franklin College and began his professional career in public relations with US Steel. He later became the public relations director for the Pittsburgh Presbytery, from which he retired in 1988.
Thomas was a longtime member of Lebanon Presbyterian Church in West Mifflin, and an active member of Community Bible Church in Avon Park, Florida, during the winters after his retirement. He is also a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge in Franklin, Indiana.
Thomas is survived by his loving wife Elva (Stabler) Stockdill and his three children, Thomas, of San Jose CA, Paul of Orchard Park, NY, and Jeanne McLinn, of Harrisburg PA. He is also survived by grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Thomas will always be remembered for his dedication to family, his exceptionally good cooking, his written and verbal eloquence, his love and service to the Church, and his thoughtfulness and generosity to others.
"Due to our present circumstances Dads memorial service is private graveside only. I know that my dad touched many of your lives. The best thing that you could do right now (other than pray for my mom and us) is to spend a couple of minutes and write a short tribute sharing your thoughts and special memories of my Dad. That would mean the world to us. You can share it here on Facebook, on this website, or send it to my mom, my brothers, or me. Thank you very much," Jeanne.
Memorial donations can be sent to either Lebanon Presbyterian Church in West Mifflin, PA or Community Bible Church in Avon Park, Florida.
Arrangements by TIMOTHY K. SLATER Funeral Services, Mount Oliver, Pennsylvania.
