DETTLINGER
Thomas Edward
Age 56, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024, at his home in McKees Rocks.
Beloved son of the late Paulette and Charles Dettlinger; beloved brother of Carl (Claudia), and the late Roy Dettlinger and the late Beth Dettlinger; beloved uncle of Kristen, and Karl.
“Brothers make you who you are. The rough and tumble takes your edges off. Their slightly hidden love is plain to see. Tom and I didn't always get along. In fact, it was rare that we saw eye to eye - nevertheless, he was my brother and will always have a place in my heart. Tom was a charming rogue who loved sports, movies, books, and games of all sorts. There was nobody funnier or more quick-witted than my brother. He was a force of nature who never failed to surprise people with his sharp one-liners and his teasing sense of humor. I will never forget his devilish smile and the moments we spent together. Tom was a passionate, brilliant, and curious person, and had been so ever since we were little. We used to fight a lot and argue a lot, but now I miss him terribly. It hurts not being able to talk to him anymore. I have questions unanswered. Uncemented bricks he gave me to build our story. Withheld tears begging for one more day in his company.
Tom, thank you for everything. For being the life of the party, for always knowing how to make us all laugh, and for showing us how to live life to the fullest.
Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Love leaves a memory no one can steal.”
Love,
Carl and family.
