HILL

Robert "Bobby" I.

"Robert “Bobby” Isaac Hill Jr., age 72, of Pittsburgh’s South Side, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2025.

Born and raised in Hazelwood, Bobby graduated from Gladstone High School in 1972, where he proudly played football and built lifelong friendships. He continued his education at the Community College of Allegheny County and the University of Pittsburgh. He worked for many years as a dedicated union maintenance worker with SEIU 32BJ, where he also served as a union steward and advocate for his fellow workers. In his earlier years, he coached basketball and remained an enthusiastic supporter of youth sports, especially while coaching his children’s baseball teams.

Bobby was a proud member of Groove Phi Groove Social Fellowship, Inc. and the Freemasons, both of which reflected his lifelong commitment to brotherhood, leadership, and service.

A devoted fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Bobby found his greatest joy in time spent with his family. His warm smile, generous spirit, and legendary ribs were central to countless gatherings. He was a man who brought people together—with laughter, love, and unwavering presence.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joy; his children, Zak (Hannah), Owen, Charmese, and Desiree; his stepdaughter, Chelsey; his sister, Jean; and cherished grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pam; his stepdaughter, Nina; his parents, Robert Sr. and Bertha; and his sister, Della.

A celebration of Bobby’s life will be held at Heavenly Vision Ministries on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend and honor the life of a man who gave so much of himself to those he loved."
