"It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Joseph Andrew Bildhauser, 93. A lifelong resident of Baldwin borough “Uncle Joe”retired from the Baldwin-Whitehall school district where he worked as a bus mechanic. Joe was the consummate “car guy”. In between fixing buses and working on the family farm, Joe would spend hours at the local gas station mechanic shop fixing any car that came his way. In addition to that there was always a car in the driveway that he was rebuilding. It was common to see a parade of classic cars in his drive throughout any given year.
For three years, Joe stopped turning wrenches as he served in the US Army during the Korean War. After his military service was complete Joe spent a short stent working for TWA as an airline mechanic but then returned to Baldwin and his love of all things automotive. He was a walking encyclopedia when it came to mechanical knowledge, it was often said “Uncle Joe can fix anything.”
He is proceeded in death by his long time companion Ruth Dedig and his sister Viola Teresa Bildhauser/Clafshenkel/Schneider. He is survived by nieces, Cynthia Ann Stalder, Evelyn Marie Qualters, and Judene Louise Bruno and by nephews, Mark Thomas Clafshenkel, Guy Robert Clafshenkel, Ronald Allen Clafshenkel , and Eric Florian Clafshenkel.
Many thanks to the nurses and staff of Paramont Senior living for the care and love you gave to Joe in the twilight of his life. All of you, and the other residence, brought light to his life, and he counted you as friends."
Joe will be interred at the National Cemetery Of The Alleghenies. There will be no public viewing.
