Joseph Mauer, Jr. Obituary

MAUER

Joseph J., Jr.

Joseph J. Mauer Jr. a lifelong resident of Pittsburgh, Pa succumbed to cancer today, Tuesday, October 27, 2020, in the comfort of his own home surrounded by his loving family at the age of 75.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy, and his daughters, Kristen Mauer (Brian) and Rachael Campbell (Don). He is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Mauer Sr, his mother, Dorothy (Wagner) Mauer, and brother, James Mauer. He will also be greatly missed by his many dear cousins, his childhood friends he met with every 2nd Wednesday of every month, and his friends at the Allentown Senior Citizen Center.

After graduating high school in 1963, Joseph joined the Army and was stationed in France.  According to the records that were found, he received awards for sharp shooting, something he had never mentioned to his loved ones.  Joseph married Kathy in 1973 and then along came two daughters who were the apple of his eye. In his spare time, he enjoyed model trains, music, Pittsburgh sport teams, and watching the Three Stooges.  Joe worked with many great people at Triangle News on Neville Island.  After Triangle News relocated their Company out of state, he found himself looking for a new occupation at the ripe ole age of 53. As luck would have it, he fell into a position with Public Works with the City of Pgh.  Again, he would always talk about the great guys that worked in his district.  In 2009, Dad finally retired and enjoyed the good life.
At this time, the family would like to acknowledge and thank nurses, Jennifer & Kayla, from AHN and Nurse David from the Visiting Angels that came to the house. Your kindness and compassion will never be forgotten.
