Joseph Gatto Obituary

GATTO

Joseph

Age 94, Joseph Gatto, of the Morningside neighborhood of Pittsburgh, passed away suddenly in his home Monday evening, July 22, 2024.

Joe was born January 12, 1930 in the small town of Termini Imerese, on the northern coast of Sicily, to Salvatore and Josephine Gatto.  On June 7, 1951, Joe married his beautiful bride, Connie.  Shortly after the wedding, the happy couple moved to the United States, sharing 69 years of love and life together.  Joe was known for being a hard working man, and always made sure he provided well for his family.  Joe worked for Clark Candy Company for over 40 years.  In addition, he proudly continued to work after retirement for Handicapped Distributors, delivering household products all over the Pittsburgh area.  Many who knew him were blessed with his wisdom and sharp wit.  During time off, Joe could often be found tinkering with the latest technical gadget on the market at the time.  But the thing that brought the most joy to Joe’s life was being in a room full of his family and friends, basking in their smiles and laughter.

Joe is survived by his two caring children, daughter, Jay Gatto of Pittsburgh, son, Sam Gatto and wife, Beth of Butler.  His grandchildren Mike Juzwick, Matt Juzwick and wife Natalie, Tina Schomburg and husband Doug, Allan Gatto and wife Shelly, and Kim Gatto.  His great grandchildren, Abigail Juzwick, Sami Schomburg, Alyssa Juzwick, Dylan Schomburg, Tayden Harrold, Hayley Schomburg.  Preceded in death were his beloved wife, Connie Gatto, and his parents Salvatore and Josephine Gatto.
