DOERR
Janet G.
Janet Gale Doerr died peacefully in her home in Mount Oliver on November 3, 2024 at the age of 82. Born February 24, 1942, she received her middle name in honor of a massive snow storm that struck Pittsburgh the day of her birth to parents Francis and Dorothy Doerr.
Janet was a sister to Frank E. Doerr and Dorothy Doerr who preceded her in death. She is survived by her children Jennifer Pacione and Jonathan Kersting and their spouses Chris Pacione and Kristen Sabol. She had the blessing of two grandsons Leonardo and Enzo Pacione. Janet is also survived by her former husband Raymond James Kersting.
Janet graduated from Carlow College and worked as a medical technologist until the birth of her first son -- Christopher James -- who died a day after his birth. Always considering herself a mother and grandmother first, Janet was a majority owner of the family truck body business Doerr Brothers Inc. and retired from PNC Bank at the age of 78.
Everyone who knew Janet knew her children and grandchildren were the center of her life. However, Janet's kindness and graciousness extended to her many dogs and cats as well as the neighborhood birds, squirrels and occasional hungry groundhog looking for a meal.
Despite the many challenges, heartbreaks and losses experienced over her lifetime, Janet was resilient in her faith in God and that love will always overcome evil. She was defined by her ability to find the positive in everything and extend kindness to everyone.
Unlike her stormy entrance into this world, she left it peacefully in her childhood home knowing her heart was with the Lord. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Humane Animal Rescue Pittsburgh or an animal shelter of your choice.
A memorial service will be held on December 6, 2024 at 11:00 am at Community Presbyterian Church of Ben Avon, 7501 Church Avenue Pittsburgh, PA 15202. Luncheon to follow in the church's Fellowship Hall.
