HENKE
Francis "Hank"
Age 95, of Bon Air, died on Thursday, July 4th. Hank was a veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1950-1952. Beloved husband of the late Mary L Henke, and devoted father of Mary Embry, Barbara Schneider, Diane Goldbach, and the late Susan Henke; grandfather extraordinaire of Sunday (Larry) , Jennifer (Dean), Elizabeth (Jonathan) , and Matthew; beloved great-grandfather of Joshua, Devin, Adam, Michael, Jason (Caroline), Evan, Leah (Nyk) and Becca; and lastly, great-great-grandfather of three.
Hank was the dear brother of the late Michael, Eleanor, Louis and Marie.
Hank had a joy for life that was felt not just by his family (and especially his grandchildren) but all that he encountered. Whether it was volunteering for lunch duty for his great grand son, or picking up Southside pretzels for everyone, or following country bands through the Mon Valley or organizing neighborhood pinochle games and garden contests - Hank found glee and shared it with everyone around him. Hank touched so many lives in his 95 years and will be greatly missed by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, neighbors, co-workers and those with whom he just simply had chance encounters.
Friends and family will be received on Wednesday July 10th at 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 PM with a service the following day Thursday July 11th at 10:30 am at the TIMOTHY K. SLATER FUNERAL SERVICES, INC. 425 Brownsville Rd., Mt. Oliver, Pgh, 15210.
