Age 71, on Sunday, May 29, 2022, of the Springhill section of Pittsburgh.

"Elaine Hooks was born to John Hooks and Grace Lee Royal Hooks on August 25, 1950 in Newark, New Jersey. She also had three brothers which predeceased her in death Richard Albert Royal, Arthur Hooks and John Hooks Jr. In 1960 after the death of both her parents she came to live with her aunt and uncle Lillian Royal Winfield and Mack Winfield.

She attended Schenley High School at night and got her GED in 1970. She graduated from CCAC in 1980; and attended Point Park College for a short time. She worked as a secretary from 1972 – 1986. Elaine Hooks married John Johnson in 1966. They had two children Rhea Grace Johnson (deceased) and John Johnson Jr.

In 1985, Elaine accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and received many miracles including deliverance from 15 years of active alcoholism and bulimia. Since becoming sober, she has enjoyed over thirty years of sobriety.

Elaine is survived by her beloved son, John Johnson Jr. (Jackie), two granddaughters, Asia and India, great grandchildren Lorenzo Dynasty and Rhea, nephew, Richard Royal Jr., sister-in-law Alice Adams Royal, and friend Kim Carter."

She will be dearly missed by her friends and family.

Friends received MONDAY 4 pm - 5:30 pm at TIMOTHY K. SLATER Funeral Services, Inc. (412-381-3337) 425 Brownsville Road, Mt. Oliver, 15210, where a homegoing service will be held at 5:30 pm. The committal service will be held at the chapel in Greenwood Cemetery on TUESDAY at 10 am.
