On Saturday, March 1, 2025, of Mt. Oliver, originally the South Side neighborhood of Pittsburgh.

"It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Darel Shaefer Hinton Jr., known affectionately by many as DJ or Beav. Darel peacefully passed away at home on the evening of March 1st, 2025, at the age of 55.

Darel was a resident of Mount Oliver, PA, and is remembered by his family and friends for his kind heart, forgiving nature, and caring spirit. His laugh and sense of humor will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his mother Anita L. (Blevins) Hinton of Fayetteville,WV, in 2010, father, Darel S. Hinton Sr., of Blairsville in 2018, Stepmother, MaryJane Hinton of Blairsville 2011, and his beloved fiancée, Tonya M. Shrum, who passed away on July 7, 2021.

He is survived by his son, Simon S. Hinton; his sister, Leah M. Hinton of Erie; his stepsister, Amy L. Donahugh of Bolivar; as well as his beloved nephews & nieces, Austin Rodkey (wife Jacklynn Rodkey), Shawn Donahugh, Mary Leah Bollinger and Kali Bollinger.

As a driver for Pyramid Healthcare, Inc., Darel made a significant impact by helping countless individuals in their recovery from addiction. He had been clean for nearly 12 years, and his work was a testament to his commitment to helping others heal.

Darel's legacy of compassion and service will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. Rest in peace, DJ/Beav. You will be missed."

Visitation will be SATURDAY 12 - 3 pm at TIMOTHY K. SLATER Funeral Services, Inc. (412-381-3337) 425 Brownsville Road, Mt. Oliver, 15210, where service of remembrance will be held at 3 pm.
