Concetta "Connie" A. (DiCarlo)
Age 89, Concetta A. "Connie" Gatto, of Morningside area, passed away in her home early Friday morning, February 26, 2021.
Connie was born February 12, 1932 in the small town of Termini, on the northern coast of Sicily, to Guytano and Carmela (Dubolino) DiCarlo.
Prior to her marriage, Connie did well in school and had studied to be a school teacher. On June 7, 1951. Connie married Joseph Gatto and shortly after the wedding the happy couple moved to the United States.
All who knew Connie, will remember her hospitality and how she always made everyone feel welcome. When you visited Connie, you never left with an empty stomach. In addition to her wonderful cooking, Connie had a masterful ability to replicate all kinds of patterns of crocheting. Many that knew her were blessed with a handmade sweater, scarf or blanket. In later years, Connie's favorite days were spent at the Morningside Community Senior Center making friends, playing cards and Rummikub, or creating beautiful crafts to share with her family.
Connie is survived by her loving husband, Joseph Gatto of Pittsburgh, two caring children, son, Samuel and wife Elizabeth Gatto, of Butler, and daughter, Jay Gatto, of Gibsonia. Her grandchildren, Michael Juzwick, Matthew and wife Natalie Juzwick, Christina and husband Douglas Schomburg, Allan and wife Michelle Gatto, and Kimberly Gatto. Her great grandchildren Abigail Juzwick, Samantha Schomburg. Alyssa Juzwick, Dylan Schomburg, Tayden Harrold, Hayley Schomburg and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death were her parents Guytano and Carmela DiCarlo, siblings Antonino DiCarlo, Aurelio Giuseppe DiCarlo, Vincenzo DiCarlo, Benito DiCarlo and Umberto e DiCarlo.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, March 3, 2021, St. Raphael Catholic Church, St. Jude Parish, 10 a.m.
