GEHRING
Charles "Chuck" J.
Age 79, Charles J. Gehring, formerly of the Southside, passed on to heaven on January 20, 2021 after his battle with cancer.
He was father and friend to Lynn Fischer (Todd), and dear brother to Glenn E., and Claudia (Gehring) Miewald, uncle to Ross and Alex Miewald, and cousin to Elaine Ebbitt (Gary). He is also survived by other relatives and many friends. Charles was employed at ALCOA for 30 years working in the Computer Programming Department. In retirement, he took on a part time job delivering flowers for Harold’s Floral.
Charles “Chuck” was someone who always had a positive attitude even when faced with his daunting diagnosis of cancer. He was all about family and loved family gatherings. He helped take care of his late mother, Marie Gehring, until her final days last April. He was a wonderful father who spent much time with his daughter, Lynn, always engaging in great conversation. All who knew him remember his passion for books and his Carnegie Library Annex. Chuck was very well read and knowledgeable about many diverse subjects which led to many great conversations. Always entertaining, he could light up a room with his great sense of humor and quick wit. He truly loved life. He had a great many interests which included travel, photography, music, showing Chow Chow dogs with his late friend, Helen Adamasko, studying wines, and establishing a great collection of knives. He always enjoyed playing cards and was a part of the card club at Perrytown Place, where he most recently resided. He will be truly missed by his family and friends.
