Age 83, on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, of Brentwood, originally Mt. Oliver.

"Barbara Jean Kraus, 83, a beloved mother, selfless, brave, loving, loyal, resilient, hardworking and caring to many, passed away on June 4, 2025. Born on November 7, 1941, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Barbara’s love and bravery touched the lives of her children, family, friends, and many others.

As a legal secretary over 40 years, Barbara’s integrity and character prevailed throughout the course of her career.   Barbara’s legacy to her family and friends was priceless because she empowered others to be all they could be, and her loving heart touch many souls.  Barbara’s passions and hobbies were shopping, gardening, bowling, singing in the choir, swimming, jogging, fishing, bird watching, and avid reader.  

Barbara is survived by her brother Peter Gary Fries, three daughters Christine Kalogeris, Jennifer Kraus, and Heather Kraus, and grandchildren Matthew Kalogeris and Lauren Kalogeris Hepler, and lastly great granddaughter Makenzee Kalogeris."

To honor Barbara’s legacy, the family requests any donations be sent to the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center for patient support resources.

Friends and family received SUNDAY 2 - 5 pm at the TIMOTHY K. SLATER Funeral Services, Inc. (412-381-3337) 425 Brownsville Road, Mt. Oliver, 15210, where a Blessing Service will be held at 5 pm.
