Joan Wilds Obituary

WILDS

Joan C.

Age 85, on Monday, March 5, 2018, of Dravosburg.

Devoted and beloved wife of Red Wilds for 67 years;

loving mother of Trish (Paul) Housman, and Gary (Janet) Wilds;

beloved grandmother of Rion, Michelle, Landon, and Julie;

beloved great-grandmother of Jordan, and Dillon.

Will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

A note from her family...

 Our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Joan Wilds, has passed into glory.
     After 3 strokes and a surgery, she endured with amazing strength until she was released into her heavenly life with her Lord and loved ones who had gone on before her.
     Surrounded by her loving family, she passed peacefully into Jesus’ arms. This time was a sacred private time as we, her family, shared our love, our praises for her, and our stories of our lives with her. She remained aware and we were blessed.
    Mom led a very active life until her later years. She belonged to many clubs and organizations.  We are proud of her for going to school for her GED in her early 40’s and working her way up to earn a career as a Teacher’s Aid at the Mon Valley AIU school. She worked a job that would be impossible for most people, helping children with chromosomal abnormalities and other difficulties, later to aid the wood shop teacher with the teen/adult students. She retired at the age of 72 and began a journey of joint replacements and surgeries while crocheting afghans left and right, until essential tremors kept her from her craft.
    Family was very important to her. At 34 years of age with two small children, she nursed her mother through a terminal illness. At this time of her home-going she has blessed her husband, daughter and son, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. We remember her generosity in helping us in any time of sorrow and need, truly caring for our lives and situations.
    Wherever we went - churches, restaurants, events - she was adored, and she enjoyed going out to eat, shop, or visit.
    Amazingly, Joan and Red marked their 67th Wedding Anniversary in the midst of this time on February 16, 2018.
    So, dear friend, there will be no public funeral, since we feel we have already had ours over the last few weeks, and we are all exhausted. We are drained and weak physically, emotionally, and mentally.
    You are invited to share your friendly association with Joan in a club or work or just in friendship as a tribute to her on her tribute page of the website www.timothykslater.com.

My treasured friend
I don’t think I ever told you that your friendship I treasure.
That I thank you for the love you’ve given without measure.
Your love for me in bad times and the good times we’ve spent,
I want to tell you now, could only be heaven sent.
My friend, you’re very special and the bond we have is rare…
