Blessings come in the guise of who we come from and who comes before us and who we are equally blessed to have as extensions of love who help to form who we are. As a kid this gift came to me through the family of my “Brother” Fletcher Johnson and this included Grace Matthews his Mother and Rene Johnson his Sister.

The best way that I know to pay tribute to her ‘sweet soul” and this sweetness is all that she ever showed me, is by sharing a poem of hers that inspired a painting as a young wanna be artist all of those years ago. It is all that I have. Some of us come into this realm with injuries from other times and never really heal as the wounds mount in one’s lifetime. Blessings and sweet flying to Sister Renee!

before his questions answered
before the questions asked
to be ignored
when needing acceptance
no span of time or deeds
could repair the damage
done by the thoughtless slaughter of his youth
